- Die Unterart ist ein Endemit der hochmontanen und subalpinen Lagen des Brocken-Gebiets im Harz (Sachsen-Anhalt). Ihre Vorkommen reichten bis nach Niedersachsen, wo im Jahr 1959 auch das letzte Exemplar gesehen wurde (Max 1977), bevor sie ausstarb. Für die ehemaligen Vorkommen der Art besteht bzw. bestand eine Verantwortlichkeit Deutschlands in besonders hohem Maße.
