- Die Hauptgefährdung von Populationen wird in der übermäßig starken Säuberung von Badestränden gesehen, vor allem an der Ostsee. Da an der Nordseeküste auch ungenutzte größere Strände vorkommen und Strandsäuberungen dort nicht so intensiv wie an der Ostsee sind, wird dort die Gefährdung geringer eingeschätzt.
