- A. balssi ist in Deutschland bisher nur aus Gewächshäusern in München und Berlin bekannt (Rabitsch & Nehring 2022). Beide Nachweise sind über 70 Jahre alt. Vermutlich wurden die Tiere mit Erde und Zierpflanzen in die botanischen Gärten eingeschleppt. Die ursprüngliche Verbreitung der Art vermutet Schmalfuss (2003) im tropischen Raum am Indischen Ozean.
