- Larven und Imagines der Art leben in den Gängen von Borkenkäfern. Dort besaugen sie deren Eier, Larven und Puppen, auch adulte Käfer werden besaugt. In den Pheromonfallen, die zur Ermittlung des Borkenkäferbestandes ausgebracht wurden, konnte S. pulchella oft in großer Zahl gefangen werden.
