- Das Material wurde auf die erst kürzlich beschriebene verwandte Art Geophilus easoni Arthur, Foddai, Kettle, Lewis, Luczynski & Minelli, 2001 geprüft. Alle untersuchten Exemplare erwiesen sich als echte G. carpophagus.

- Diese Art ist zerstreut über ganz Deutschland verbreitet, tritt aber überall selten und meist synanthrop auf, teilweise im Inneren von Gebäuden.
