- P. marginatus erreicht in Europa in Luxemburg, Belgien und Deutschland die Grenzen seiner nordwestlichen, hier schon sehr disjunkten Verbreitung. Südlich ist die Art in ganz Europa vertreten und besiedelt ein Areal, das sich östlich von Russland bis ins westliche China erstreckt. In Deutschland ist die Art aus Niedersachsen, Sachsen, Thüringen, Hessen und Rheinland-Pfalz gemeldet. Im Süden fehlte sie schon immer. Meldungen nach 1950 liegen nur aus Rheinland-Pfalz und Hessen vor. Da die Art fast ausschließlich in brachypterer Form auftritt, liegt eine historische Isolation aller deutschen Vorkommen vom Hauptareal sehr nahe.
