- Die Art war für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland noch nicht bekannt, ist aber an mehreren untersuchten Küstenstandorten vertreten. In der Vergangenheit wurde sie wohl übersehen, da sie meist mit anderen dominanteren Arten (z.B. Vaucheria synandra) gemeinsam vorkommt und häufig erst nach längerer Rohkultur Fortpflanzungsstadien entwickelt; möglicherweise ist sie auch in Ausbreitung begriffen.
