- Taxon aus der Peronospora trifoliorum-Gruppe; der von Klenke & Scholler (2015) in Peronospora trifoliorum eingeschlossene Befall an Trifolium repens ist nicht näher mit dem Befall an T. medium (Typuswirt von P. trifoliorum) verwandt und bildet eine genetisch eigenständige Sippe (García-Blázquez et al. 2008).
- Comment on threat
- Zwischen den 1950er bis 1980er Jahren sind die Bestände der Art stark bis sehr stark zurückgegangen. Die Ursachen für diese Entwicklung sind nicht bekannt. Denkbar ist ein Zusammenhang mit unterschiedlichen Anfälligkeiten von landwirtschaftlich genutzten Wirtspflanzen-Sorten für den Parasiten.
