- West- bis südwestmediterrane Art, östlich bis Griechenland. Aus Mitteleuropa sind bisher nur zwei alte Funde aus Belgien und Deutschland bekannt (Krell 1990, Krell & Fery 1992), Fundort: Bayern, Allgäu vor 1899 (Fuchs mdl. 2019). Da Pleurophorus mediterranicus erst 1986 beschrieben wurde, sind vielleicht weitere unerkannte Belege in nicht aufgearbeiteten Sammlungen vorhanden. Die Art profitiert möglicherweise von der Klimaerwärmung.
