- Diese Art lässt sich nur schwer von den nahe verwandten Arten Lithobius borealis, L. lapidicola und L. subtilis abgrenzen.

- L. pygmaeus wurde bisher zerstreut aus Baden-Württemberg und Bayern gemeldet, daneben gibt es zweifelhafte Funde aus Nordrhein-Westfalen.
