- Aus DNA-Analysen ist bekannt, dass es in der Verwandtschaftsgruppe von Cheilosia vernalis (Fallén, 1817) mehrere Arten gibt, jedoch ist die Namenszuordnung unklar und morphologisch sind die Taxa derzeit nicht unterscheidbar und bestimmbar.
