- Von drei aktuellen Nachweisen betrifft nur einer ein Wildvorkommen der Wirtspflanze Lotus maritimus (Sachsen-Anhalt, SO Bernburg). Die beiden anderen stammen aus Botanischen Gärten. Die dort kultivierten Wirtspflanzen sind kein gesicherter und gleichwertiger Ersatz für Wildvorkommen. Der Falsche Mehltau ist extrem selten und wird insgesamt als vom Aussterben bedroht (RL-Kat. 1) eingestuft.
