- Nach Untersuchungen von Choi et al. (2008) und Choi et al. (2010) handelt es sich bei Peronospora chenopodii in der Fassung von Brandenburger & Hagedorn (2006) und Klenke & Scholler (2015) um eine Gruppe von mehreren Arten. Peronospora chenopodii wird dementsprechend wesentlich enger gefasst als früher und beinhaltet nur noch den Befall an Chenopodium hybridum. Dies ist der Typuswirt der Art.
