- Nach Klenke & Scholler (2015) kommt die Art ausschließlich auf Ranunculus lingua vor. Die Nachweise von Falschem Mehltau an diesem Wirt aus Deutschland können der Art momentan nicht sicher zugewiesen werden: Eine Angabe von Kirschstein (1899) als „Peronospora ficariae Tulasne auf Ranunculus lingua“ wurde später P. gigantea zugeordnet (z.B. Klenke & Scholler 2015). Ein aktueller Nachweis auf dem Wirt steht von den Konidienmaßen her zwischen Peronospora gigantea und P. ranunculi (leg. & det. V. Kummer). Überhaupt ist die Abgrenzung von P. gigantea gegenüber Sippen von P. ranunculi und P. alpicola revisionsbedürftig (M. Thines & J. Kruse, briefl. Mitt.).
