- Für die Wirtsgattung Stellaria wird mit Microbotryum alsines von Vánky (2012) nur ein einziger Fruchtknoten-befallender Pilz genannt. Zwar ist die Art bisher nur aus Amerika an mit Stellaria alsine verwandten Wirten nachgewiesen, bis zum Vorliegen von molekularen Studien wird der Pilz auf Stellaria media vorläufig ebenfalls unter dem Namen M. alsines geführt.

- Der bisher einzige deutsche Nachweis stammt von Stellaria media aus Frankfurt-Höchst, gesammelt im Frühjahr 2015 (Kruse et al. 2021). Die Sippe wurde vorher vermutlich übersehen und wird als indigen eingestuft.
