- Der starke Rückgang des Pilzes steht in auffälligem Gegensatz zur Ausbreitung des 1905 eingeführten, ebenfalls auf Ribes parasitierenden Neomyzeten Podosphaera mors-uvae. Dessen Auftreten hat zu umfangreichen Bekämpfungsmaßnahmen geführt, etwa durch Sortenwahl und Resistenzzüchtung. Die negative Bestandsentwicklung und Gefährdung von Erysiphe grossulariae könnte mit diesen Maßnahmen im Zusammenhang stehen.
