- Abgrenzung im Sinne des Lectotypus: Im Protolog von Nitzschia manca ist irrtümlich eine zweite Art miterfasst. Sie unterscheidet sich vom Lectotypus durch größere Exemplare mit enger gestellten Fibulae und weiter gestellten Streifen. Es handelt sich um die gleichzeitig publizierte N. frequens Hust.
