- NORDSEE: Der für diese Art maßgebliche ICCAT Bericht für den Ostatlantik und das Mittelmeer (ICCAT 2020) enthält keine eindeutigen Angaben zur Bestandsentwicklung des Roten Thuns (Abb.: siehe Publikation für Abbildungsnummer). Unterschiedliche Populationsmodelle berechnen zwar unterschiedliche Werte in der absoluten Bestandsgröße (Spawning Stock Biomass = SSB), zeigen jedoch nach ICCAT (2022) gleiche Trends in der Bestandsabnahme von 1977 (ca. 155.000–348.000t SSB) bis 2006 (ca. 117.000–208.000t SSB) und eine deutliche Bestandszunahme von 2006 bis 2020 (ca. 444.000–627.000t). Die derzeitige fischereiliche Sterblichkeit scheint jedoch unter dem Referenzwert zu liegen (ICCAT 2022).
