- Nach Köckinger & Hedenäs (2017) ist Tortella bambergeri ein Synonym von T. tortuosa. Zugleich zeigten sie, dass die bisher als T. bambergeri angesehenen Moose zu zwei Arten gehören: zur südwestlich verbreiteten T. fasciculata und zur boreo-montanen T. pseudofragilis. Der Kenntnisstand lässt eine genauere Einschätzung von Verbreitung und Bestandstrends noch nicht zu.
