- Die Helgoländer Hausmaus wird aufgrund des Auftretens Robertsonscher Translokationen in ihrem Chromosomensatz zu M. domesticus gestellt. Robertsonsche Translokationen sind von M. musculus nicht bekannt, treten aber bei M. domesticus häufig auf (Meinig 2004).
