- Bisher gibt es keine gesicherten Nachweise des Pilzes in Deutschland. Die Angaben am Wirt Vaccinium vitis-idaea könnten sich auf Formen von Exobasidium vaccinii beziehen, welches in seinem Erscheinungsbild sehr divers ist. Döring (2003) konnte die taxonomische Trennung von E. juelianum und E. vaccinii molekularbiologisch nicht bestätigen. Demnach ist der taxonomische Status unsicher und es handelt sich eventuell überhaupt nur um verschiedene Ausprägungsformen einer Art.
