- Während bei Hess et al. (1999) Agabus biguttatus (Olivier, 1795) und A. nitidus (Fabricius, 1801) noch als eigenständige Arten betrachtet wurden, wird A. nitidus nunmehr endgültig als Synonym für A. biguttatus (A. biguttatus var. nitidus) angesehen (Nilsson 2003). Damit bestätigen sich die bereits früher geäußerten Zweifel an der Eigenständigkeit dieser zwei Arten.
