- Im Gegensatz zu C. oculatum mit schwefelgelben Plasmodien und größeren Sporokarpien, die silbrig statt blaumetallisch glänzen.

- Eine streng an moosbewachsene Felsen gebundene Art, die im Nationalpark Sächsische Schweiz lokal in tiefen, luftfeuchten Sandsteinklamms häufig ist; enge Bindung an das Lebermoos Mylia taylori (Schnittler et al. 2010). In Deutschland bisher nur aus der Sächsischen Schweiz bekannt.
