- Die Funde von Russula mairei beziehen sich zu großen Teilen auf die in fast jedem Buchenbestand zu findende Art, die R. fageticola heißen sollte. Von dieser ist eine weitere, deutlich verfärbende Art in Buchenwäldern auf Kalk zu unterscheiden.
