- Taxon aus der Ustilago striiformis-Gruppe; der bisher zu U. striiformis gerechnete Befall auf Helictotrichon pubescens bildet nach Kruse et al. (2018) eine eigenständige Art. Auch wenn keine Aufsammlungen von Helictotrichon pratense in die Analysen von Kruse et al. (2018) eingeflossen sind, gehen sie davon aus, dass U. scaura auf beiden Wirten vorkommt. Leider ist der Pilz auf H. pratense äußerst selten, so dass eine endgültige Klärung dieses Sachverhaltes noch nicht erfolgt ist.
