- Die Waldbirkenmaus galt lange Zeit als nicht systematisch nachweisbar (Meinig et al. 2015). Die Möglichkeit zu einem Monitoring der Art hat sich inzwischen durch eine neue Methodik (Wildkameras, Fotofallen) deutlich verbessert (van der Kooij et al. 2016), neue Fotonachweise liegen für den Bayerischen Wald (Kraft et al. 2016, Kraft 2017, schriftl. Mitt., Stille et al. 2018) und das Allgäu (Kraft & Stille 2018, schriftl. Mitt.) vor. (Abb. 15)
