- Comment on taxonomy
- Die Gattungen Thekopsora und Pucciniastrum erwiesen sich nach neueren Untersuchungen (u.a. Maier et al. 2003, Padamsee & McKenzie 2014) als polyphyletisch, so dass größere taxonomische Umstellungen vorgenommen wurden oder noch zu erwarten sind. Es erfolgte noch keine abschließende Bearbeitung, so dass vorerst die bisherige Zuordnung der Arten zu den Gattungen entsprechend Klenke & Scholler (2015) beibehalten wird. Gegenwärtig wird T. areolata teilweise wieder als Pucciniastrum areolatum (Fr.) G.H. Otth geführt. Da T. areolata die Typusart der Gattung Thekopsora ist, stünde damit die gesamte Gattung infrage.
