- Belege sind kritisch auf Verwechslungen mit B. ovispora zu prüfen.

- Verbreitung kaum bekannt, da sehr unauffällige Sippe. Wahrscheinlich wärmeliebend. Als B. ovispora bestimmte Funde durch Jahn (1918) und Jaap (1909, 1922) sowie eine Aufsammlung von Krieglsteiner (1993) erwiesen sich bei Nachuntersuchung als B. apiculospora (Neubert et al. 1995: 167). Mehrere Funde in FK von Trockenrasen um Jena (leg. R. Süß, det. Schnittler).
