- Das Typenmaterial stammt aus fossilem Material aus dem Tertiär. Rezente Nachweise in Deutschland bedürfen der Überprüfung (Lange-Bertalot 2001). Funde mit erwiesener Identität liegen aus der Republik Mazedonien vor. Sehr ähnliche Populationen sind aus Japan und Russland bekannt, eine Art aus dem benachbarten Polen wurde als Navicula rakowskae Lange-Bert. beschrieben.
