- Der Name der Art wird oft irrtümlich als S. sebaldi Reinsch 1876 angegeben. Das Basionym bei Reinsch hieß aber Didymidium sancti-sebaldi; es wurde erst von Lundell in die Gattung Staurastrum umkombiniert. Staurastrum sebaldii ist eine orthographisch nicht korrekte Variante des Namens.
