- Nach Ploch et al. (2022) lassen sich Aufsammlungen von Peronospora alpicola an Ranunculus aconitifolius genetisch nicht von P. pulveracea an Helleborus-Arten unterscheiden. Sie halten es für möglich, dass beide Sippen konspezifisch sind und vermuten einen noch andauernden Wirtsartensprung über Gattungsgrenzen hinweg im Unterschied zu Prozessen der adaptiven Radiation und Koevolution.
