- Taxon aus der Peronospora trifoliorum-Gruppe; der von Klenke & Scholler (2015) in Peronospora trifolii-hybridi Gäum. eingeschlossene Befall an Trifolium pratense ist nicht näher mit dem auf T. hybridum verwandt und bildet eine genetisch eigenständige Sippe (García-Blázquez et al. 2008). Die Benennung der Art folgt hier Gustavsson (1959).
