- Foitzik (1996) orientierte sich in der 1. Fassung der Roten Liste bei der Behandlung von Rostpilzen an Carex im Allgemeinen an Zwetko (1993) und schloss dementsprechend Puccinia linosyridis-caricis in P. extensicola ein. Unklar bleibt, warum er zu der so gefassten Art ausschließlich die Wirte von P. linosyridis-caricis listete und Carex distans, C. extensa und Tripolium pannonicum als Wirte von P. extensicola im engeren Sinne wegließ. Vermutlich wurden sie vergessen.
