- Comment on taxonomy
- Taxon aus der Ustilago striiformis-Gruppe; der bisher zu U. striiformis gerechnete Befall auf Calamagrostis villosa bildet nach Kruse et al. (2018) eine eigenständige Art. Wie es sich mit Nachweisen an Calamagrostis varia verhält, ist noch nicht geklärt. Entsprechende Funde können bis auf Weiteres nur der Ustilago striiformis-Gruppe zugeordnet werden.

- Der erstmals 1985 in Deutschland nachgewiesene Pilz wurde vorher vermutlich übersehen und wird als indigen eingestuft.
