- Taxon aus der Golovinomyces cichoracearum-Gruppe; in Bradshaw et al. (2021) wird ein Epitypus für das Taxon, gesammelt in Deutschland (Sachsen, 1976, leg. U. Braun), festgelegt.

- Unklar ist, ob bei älteren Echten Mehltau-Meldungen von Cirsium spp. eine Verwechslung mit Erysiphe mayorii stets ausgeschlossen ist.
