Vor der Arbeit von van den Broek et al. (2018) wurde T. calceatus (Abb.: siehe Publikation für Abbildungsnummer) als Unterart von T. atricapillus geführt. Genitaluntersuchungen und DNA-Analysen zeigten jedoch, dass es sich um eine eigene valide Art handelt.
