- Die Untergattung Neolygus wurde zur Gattung erhoben (Yasunaga et al. 2002). Nach der Neubeschreibung von Neolygus zebei (Günther, 1997) wurden alle bislang in Deutschland gemeldeten Exemplare von N. populi der neu beschriebenen Art zugeordnet.
